The 20-roll mill is the most suitable for cold-rolling stainless steel, silicon steel and high-strength metal and alloy thin strips and extremely thin strips. It is responsible for almost 96% of the world's stainless steel production.
The rolling mill stands designed and supplied by our company are integral cast steel parts. This type of rolling mill has high rigidity and is equipped with a relatively complete roll shape adjustment system and thickness control system, which can roll thin strips with very high thickness accuracy and flatness.

2 The main structural features of the rolling mill
1. The tower roll system of the 20-high mill makes the rolling pressure transfer to the outer support roller in a fan shape. The more the number of the tower roller layers is, the more the number of the outer support roller is, the smaller the rolling pressure the support roller bears, and the smaller the deflection deformation of the roller is. Moreover, the tower-shaped roll system structure can effectively ensure that the small-diameter working rolls have greater rigidity and stability in both the vertical and horizontal planes, thereby guaranteeing the stability of rolling and reducing the deflection deformation of the rolls. This feature is especially important when rolling stainless steel, silicon steel and thin strips of high-strength metals and alloys.
2. The frame of the integral cast steel part has high rigidity, and the rolling force acts radially on each cross-section of the frame.
3. The working roller diameter is small, and the pass reduction rate is large. With fewer rolling passes, some materials can be rolled into very thin strips without intermediate annealing.
4. It is equipped with axial and radial roller profile adjustment, roller diameter size compensation and rolling line adjustment mechanisms, and adopts hydraulic pressing down and hydraulic AGC adjustment mechanisms. Therefore, the product has a good plate shape and high dimensional accuracy.
5. The equipment is lightweight, the rolling mill has a small external dimension, and requires less infrastructure investment.
3 Description of the main mechanical properties of the rolling mill
The rolling mill is equipped with various adjustment mechanisms. During the rolling process, various necessary adjustments can be flexibly achieved through manual and automatic control systems, thereby obtaining high-precision and well-shaped finished strip materials.
1. Hydraulic AGC down-adjustment mechanism
The downward adjustment mechanism is achieved by using hydraulic downward pressure and the eccentric adjustment mechanism within the B/C support rollers of the upper support roller group. When the rolling force suddenly increases or decreases, it can be automatically adjusted and corrected through the AGC thickness control system.
2. Press up the rolling line adjustment mechanism
The press-up rolling line alignment mechanism, also known as the rolling line elevation adjustment mechanism, is achieved through a hydraulic press-up mechanism and an eccentric shaft of the lower supporting roll set F/G. With the wear and regrinding of the work rolls, intermediate rolls and support rolls, the elevation of the rolling line must be adjusted at any time.
3. Radial roller profile adjustment mechanism (convexity adjustment
The radial roller shape adjustment mechanism works by driving the outer eccentric ring of the B/C support roller to rotate through a hydraulic cylinder, causing the support roller to deform at different positions along the length of the roller body, thereby achieving the purpose of adjusting the roller shape. Moreover, the hydraulic system has a fast response speed, short calibration time and high sensitivity.
4. Axial roller profile adjustment mechanism (First intermediate roller movement)
Axial roll profile adjustment is achieved through the axial movement of the first intermediate roll. This mechanism can ensure uniform dimensions of the strip along the transverse direction and can also be used to eliminate the edge waves of the strip caused by the bending deformation of the work roll during the rolling process.
The axial movement of the first intermediate roll can occur during the rolling process.
5. Compensation and adjustment mechanism for roller diameter
When the diameter of the roll becomes smaller due to multiple grinding operations and neither the down-pressing nor the up-pressing mechanisms can meet the required gap of the roll, the compensation mechanism for adjusting the roll diameter can be adjusted to solve this problem.
6. Filter cartridge backwashing filtration system.
The process lubrication system is a major component of the rolling mill. Its quality directly affects the stable operation of the rolling mill and the surface quality of the products.
