Material selection of roller bearing ring and roller

Rolling bearing is a type commonly used in our daily life, rolling bearing is mainly composed of outer ring, inner ring, rolling body and cage combination. For the ring and the rolling body of the rolling bearing, the choice of material is very important, these two parts can determine the performance of the rolling bearing, we can choose the material that meets the needs of the rolling bearing ring and the rolling body.


1  high carbon chromium bearing steel

The vast majority of bearing rings and rolling bodies are made of special steel. The rings and rollers are manufactured from high carbon chromium bearing steels (GCr15 and GCr15SiMn and ZGCr15 and ZGCr15SiMn) with the parts hardness as follows:

The rings and rollers made of GCr15 and ZGCr15 materials are HRc61~65, and the steel balls are HRc62~66;

The rings and rollers made of GCr15SiMn and ZGCr15SiMn are HRc60~64, and the steel balls are HRc60~66.

Bearings made of high-carbon steel chromium bearing steel are generally suitable for the operating temperature range of -40 to 130 degrees, and oil and grease lubrication is normal. It can meet the requirements of general machinery.

High carbon chromium bearing steel bearing parts after high temperature recovery, its suitable working temperature can be up to 250 degrees.


2  carburized bearing steel

The ring and rolling body made of carburized bearing steel, its hardness is: the ring and rolling body are HRc60~64, generally suitable for the working temperature of -40~140 degrees Celsius range, oil and grease lubrication is normal, can be used under large impact vibration conditions, such as rolling stock and rolling mill bearings, but the heat treatment process of the steel is more complex.


3  heat-resistant bearing steel

The roller of the ring made of heat-resistant bearing steel, its hardness: the ring and roller are HRc60~64, the steel ball is HRc61~65, in the case of normal lubrication, suitable for the working temperature of 120~250 degrees Celsius, such as aircraft engines, gas turbines and other spindle working conditions.


4  corrosion resistant bearing steel

The ring and rolling body are made of corrosion-resistant bearing steel, and the hardness is: the ring and rolling body should not be lower than HRc58, suitable for corrosive media such as water, nitric acid, chemical reagents, and the temperature is -253~350 degrees Celsius.
