Why does the bearing temperature rise after grease filling?

Author: Views:145 publishTime:2024-07-22

The influence of the filling of grease on the bearing temperature is complex and multifaceted, not only involving the amount of grease, but also involving the type, distribution and use of grease environment and other factors. The correct addition of grease can effectively reduce the friction and wear of the bearing during operation, so as to maintain a reasonable temperature level, but the improper addition method or amount may cause the temperature to rise, which not only affects the performance of the bearing, but also may shorten its service life. The following will be a detailed analysis of the effect of grease filling on the increase of bearing temperature:

1. Excessive addition causes the temperature to rise

(1) Increase rotation resistance: When the grease is added too much, it will be violently turned inside the bearing, increasing rotation resistance, resulting in a rise in temperature.

(2) Accelerate the deterioration of grease: the increase in temperature will accelerate the oxidation rate of grease, so that it can deteriorate in advance and shorten the service life. The precipitation of the base oil accelerates, leading to the dry hardening of the grease, further worsening the lubrication conditions, and forming a vicious cycle.

2. Improper filling affects bearing performance

(1) Increase of friction torque: When the filling amount of grease increases, the friction torque increases, resulting in an increase in bearing temperature.

(2) Sealing problem: Adding too much grease will also increase the pressure of the seal, which may cause the seal to break or fail, introduce impurities or water vapor, and cause damage to the bearing.

3. Uneven distribution of grease leads to local overheating

(1) New grease integration problem: the newly added grease fails to melt quickly and distribute evenly, resulting in excessive local friction and temperature rise.

(2) Running cycle: After the new grease is added, there should be a running cycle, and the speed is reduced to 30 to 60% of the standard operation to avoid overheating caused by uneven distribution.

4. Improper grease type affects lubrication effect

(1) Grade selection error: The use of a grease grade that does not match the bearing requirements may lead to poor lubrication and increased temperature.

(2) Grease deterioration or pollution: If the grease is contaminated or deteriorated, it will lose its normal lubrication function, increase the friction resistance of the bearing operation, and then lead to a rise in temperature.

5. Assembly quality and environmental issues

(1) Improper assembly: improper bearing assembly, such as too loose or too tight with the end cap, will also cause abnormal temperature rise.

(2) Environmental impact: The lack of cleanliness of the bearing and its surrounding environment will also cause adverse effects on the bearing, including temperature rise.

6. Improper operation and maintenance

(1) Improper refueling technology: When adding grease, improper operation, such as improper pressure control of the butter gun, may also lead to excessive or uneven grease addition, causing the temperature to rise.

(2) Insufficient maintenance monitoring: The lack of proper monitoring and maintenance of the operating state of the bearing may lead to the failure to timely detect and deal with problems that lead to temperature rise.

In addition to the above, the following aspects should be paid attention to:

(1) Determine the appropriate grease filling amount to avoid too much or too little.

(2) Select the appropriate grease type to ensure that it matches the requirements of the bearing.

(3) When adding grease, pay attention to the operation method to avoid the introduction of problems due to improper technical operation.

(4) Regular inspection and maintenance of bearings to ensure the cleanliness of bearings and their surrounding environment.

Summary: Factors such as the amount, type, distribution and use environment of grease have an important impact on the temperature of bearings. The correct grease filling and maintenance method can effectively control the temperature of the bearing to ensure its normal operation and long-term durability.
